I wrote about the oil and gas under Gaza a couple of weeks ago in my piece “The Root of All Evils.” Glad to see everyone can see through the b.s. about us helping “democracy” in Israel from “terrorists”. Yeah, it’s just your typical conflict for oil with a little bit of Zionist genocide thrown in on the side. Sicko!

Isn't it funny how no matter where we go to fight for democracy -- what I now refer to as 'deMOCKracy' -- there just happens to be oil or raw earth minerals under foot. Coincidence, I am sure. Feel free to use any of my art from the Substack or website for free in any of your posts.

Be sure to check out the photo with this post. I swear to all that is evil on Wall Street it is 100% true... https://mark192.substack.com/p/the-most-eloquent-headstone-to-our

Thanks, Mark, for sharing your creativity! I will probably take you up on it. I always wanted to be a political cartoonist, but can't draw worth a lick. (My brother can--and he won't do it anymore. Grr!)

Yeah, wars do have this funny way of breaking out over oil fields... I think it has something with the "violent vibes" that come off of petroleum lurking under the surface. The oil needs to stay put, IMO. We should immediately shut down the fossil fuel industry and switch to clean energies such as solar and wind before it's too late. They give off more positive vibes, too. ;-)

Feel free to put my work to work. I was an editorial cartoonist at the Albuquerque tribune but my cartoons on Reagan's dirty Central American drug wars got me in trouble and I became an outdoor/environmental writer, then eventually went to grad school and began work as a psychotherapist. I had done no drawing for about 15 years, then the uprising in Madison, Wisconsin Uprising happened and I was back into the cartooning.

If you have a need for something and can't find anything on the website I may have something I haven't posted or may be able to dash something off for you. All for the cause...

Thank you so much! I love political cartoons--short, to the point, visual info easily digested. I started out in film school because I loved photography, and then I ended up writing movie/theater critique columns for a West Texas daily in the 80s and then funny columns. And then I went back to school and got a psych degree. Must be a thing for those of us who like to observe human nature and report on it, share insights with others. (And now I'm volunteering in the immigration legal aid field until I get a paying gig--A.D.D. and poverty works that way!)

That's an amazingly similar path. My professional path began as a high school teacher for a few years then several iterations of journalism then psych. For me one led to the other and all followed the same path. Good luck on finding a position now.

Check out this article on editorial cartooning that was on one of the other commentators' the commentator thread. I don't agree with everything but he makes some good points about the current state of the craft, but he is arguing the left version of the right anti-free speech right. I don't think he knows anything about the history of the artform prior to 2000. The First Amendment terrifies both right and left these days.

Cartoonist Steve Bell was fired from The Guardian for a cartoon using a classic cartoon reference in a Netanyahu cartoon, with the editors twisting it into being antisemitic, which it wasn't. Bell had been with the paper for 40 years.
