I wish we had more Independents like Bernie. The word "Democrat" sends people running in droves.

I wish Sanders were an independent. He's not.

As a former Democratic party county co-chair and one-time strong Sanders supporter, I have been disgusted at his role for the DNC as "sheep dog" of the left and how once the Democrats stabbed him in the back he obediently fell in line, ordering his followers to shut up and vote for Clinton and then Biden ... two corporate war dogs.

His about-face betrayals have been so blatant, crude and callous it makes me wonder which three-letter agency has dirt on him.

When the history of our fall into fascist dystopia is written, Sanders' betrayal will be seen as the most consequential of the countless missed opportunities to save the country.

I don't even use his friendly sounding first name anymore. He's just Sanders to me. Another insincere, scamming politician.

Sanders has been an incredible disappointment.

Bernie is a Dem sheepdog. He takes his orders directly from Pelosi and suckers unsuspecting voters into thinking that the Dems are "cool and groovy" and to stick with them and not vote for Greens (who are actually quite cool and groovy and progressive). He won't even say the word "genocide" about what's happening in Gaza. A total loser. Bernie lost his "independence" a long time ago.

In the first Sanders campaign I got to shake his hand at a rally in Dubuque, Iowa. A friend and I drove over an hour to join the rally. There were hundreds of people there and his staff and volunteers were absolutely great. There were so many enthusiastic young voters and volunteers. The whole energy of the rally was amazing. It was in a large gymnasium and it was PACKED. Standing room only.

As we drove home my friend and I were so excited by what we had just seen. When he got knifed in the back by the Dems and rolled over into tummy-up lapdog complacent endorsement of Hillary it was shocking to both of us. We were both so confused about what had just happened.

I cautiously hoped he would have learned something going into the second race but it soon became clear it was just a repeat of what happened the first time.

For me it was confirmation that the American political process is dead.

He could have led an FDR-scale reform and rescue of this nation but just walked away. In the absence of leading reform of the Dem Party, he helped usher in Trump and the Project 2025 fascist regime. It's a horrible legacy, but he earned it.

We had a similar story... We had to drive a couple of hours and stand outside in sub-freezing temps to see Bernie the first time, but the crowd was warm and we were all excited. Saw him again and then again in the city we now live in (where we also saw Tulsi Gabbard). So much volunteer work knocking on doors and running the very first Bernie Blog... and then we went to Philadelphia only to see Bernie get screwed over by the Dems. That was it for us. I didn't even think he'd try again in 2020, and wasn't even surprised when they screwed him over again. Bernie became a tool of the establishment, a supporter of the oligarchy. Now he meekly does as he's told. Tell me what legislation has he passed in the last 8 years? (Answer: Nothing.) Bernie as an independent thinker is dead.

Well, the pedo-Republican from Minnesota might be right-- Trump Derangement Syndrome is a mental illness. But then Trump Worship Syndrome is also a mental illness, so I guess they cancel each other out (among duopolists, that is. Third party/indie voters don't give a sh*t about Trump either way.)

Tulsi Gabbard has really spun her position around on Yemen. From decrying the US bombing them six years ago, to actively promoting the US bombing them now. I can't believe that the young woman I saw in person at a Bernie Sanders rally has come so far, but maybe it's TDS/TWS at work?

Trump Derangement Syndrome = Trump Worship Syndrome.

No kidding.

Life in the asylum.

Do you know the story behind Gabbard's white streak of hair?

No, I never thought about her white streak of hair. I figured it was hereditary like a friend of mine's streak. It makes people think she's older than she is--and wiser. (But the pro-Trump babble doesn't convince me she knows squat.)

Gabbard was raised in a radical right-wing fringe Christian cult in Hawaii. The leader of the group was very controlling and absolute loyalty was demanded. The streak of white dyed hair has some kind of symbolism within the cult -- which indicates she is still a member. I've noticed that since joining the Trump administration, the streak is now wider and on more ostentatious display.

Interesting. I thought she was in a Hindu-cult. (According to Wikipedia, she became a Hindu as a teenager.) It's one reason she hates Muslims, I figured.

Whoops, you're right, it is Hindu. That's why she got such a big, loving reception in India and said nothing about the persecution and killings of religious minorities there.
