I feel miserable for the 'poor' in every country BUT the USA has never known poverty on this scale. You can deride the Europeans as much as you want BUT we still have reasonably good healthcare here in France which is why many older Americans are coming here.

Here is the rub! When Americans get here: they buy up property and rent it out to BNB.

The French have just implemented a Law: Tax on 2nd homes.

This could be done in the USA!

MY neighbours Americans have sold their 2 properies because of this Tax. Great, we are now getting French neighbours.

I did not come to France from America to have American neighbours who have done NOTHING for our community.

Remember, you never have to let any law officer into your home without a warrant signed by a JUDGE. If the cops don't have the correctly filled out paperwork, just say no!

Yes, and don't get suckered into a discussion, just say, "Speak to my attorney, good-bye!"

Hi Mark

As always, we appreciate your advice.

I’ve a question for you. Last summer in Denver I received what I consider an intrusive pat down at the airport. Since I plan on returning to Colorado this summer, if this were to present itself again, can I refuse it?

First of all, I am not an attorney, so I suggest looking at the web pages for the ACLU and FIRE to see what they might have posted. I do think that since one is choosing to fly there is greater intrusion on personal rights. For example, one could be kicked off a flight for refusing to wear a seat belt when told to do so. I think if one refuses the scans and patdowns they can be turned away. But again, I'm no attorney and I have avoided flying for almost ten years, more because of the livestock car experience on flights these days.

Thanks Mark. Just thought I’d pick your brain since you’re so knowledgeable about our rights.

What’s left of them, anyways 😉

Maybe I’ll bypass Denver altogether and do Colorado Springs instead. Lovely, friendly small airport for any of our friends who might be traveling in that direction. You can go outside, smoke a cigarette, and it feels like you could reach out and touch the mountains. My favorite airport in the country.
