Turns out the US ain’t really ready for real war. Huh, imagine that, arrogance and corporate corruption don’t outwit combat superiority on the battlefield. Dang!
The line about ‘training for the last war’. As someone who reads quite a bit about history, that philosophy rang true in the Civil War, definitely in WWl charged into machine guns and stories of WWll pilots facing Nazi jets. We never learn because the fodder doesn’t really matter. People were appalled when Trump mocked dead soldiers. Trump made the mistake of saying out loud what the filthy rich war mongers have said quietly for decades.
Absolutely right! What so many get wrong about Trump is that he is not the problem, he is perfect product burped up by the corrupt, manipulated system.
As long as there is capitalism and endless wars for resource grabs, they'll be military recruiters tricking poor young kids into joining up. "Cannon fodder" isn't supposed to survive. That's why the Veterans Administration gets a tiny percentage of the billions given to the bloated military budget year after year.
Humans have been turned into a commodity called soldiers which can be traded for shiny things like gas patches and fertile mud. Voters, shoppers and social media wannabees have proven that most think being repackaged into something not themself is normal. In fact, they will volunteer to be what they're told to be.
Minimum age for combat troop recruitment should be 55. If that happened the cowards that send the young to kill and die would never wage another war. It is all so disgusting.
You have seen/experienced it up close. As much as I have studied, read and learned, Gaza just shattered naive illusions I didn't even know I had. I knew the US had done horrible things, millions had suffered and died but until I saw the up close, bloody, mutilated images by victims from the ground I didn't really understand. I am disgusted, outraged and have no illusions that this empire is doing any good to outweigh/counterbalance the evil.
I'm a few years younger and share your view about the need to stand with and for the young. I am pretty disgusted with my generation at how so few are pushing back against the fascist state.

War is for people who cannot think!
And divorced from reality. All wars are lies.

Life on a Walmart shelf ... the embodiment of Hypernormalization.
War Robots!
I think you are right. The question is how many we take down with us into our greasy pit of hypocrisy and abject failure.
