This is so awful. One of the best cartoonists for a long time.

I will be delighted to read his substack posts.

We should all support Mr Fish.

Thanks Mark.

Mr. Fish is a freakin' genius! I'm so tired of this witch hunt of people with a conscience by the baby-killing witch hunters, aka zy0nists.

Agreed. As in all fascist regimes they come after the true artists to twist and pervert the social narrative. The more they repress the louder we all have to be to spray paint a big "F-YOU!' across their sweaty little foreheads.

". . . Because of the fame of his children's books (and because we often misunderstand these books) and because his political cartoons have remained largely unknown, we do not think of Dr. Seuss as a political cartoonist. But for two years, 1941-1943, he was the chief editorial cartoonist for the New York newspaper PM (1940-1948), and for that journal he drew over 400 editorial cartoons.

The Dr. Seuss Collection in the Mandeville Special Collections Library at the University of California, San Diego, contains the original drawings and/or newspaper clippings of all of these cartoons. This website makes these cartoons available to all internet users. . . . "

We need teachers and professors like him. Real teachers with high ideals who make students think for themselves to challenge enslavement by indoctrination that intrudes on conscience and strifles desire for constructive activities that blesses life instead of harming it.

Absolutely! Mr. Fish's students have been robbed by the corrupt U-Penn managers.

I frequently see Mr Fish when reading Chris Hedges.

I never got a college degree due to the Monopoly Parties bipartisan Solomon Amendment. I'd been accepted to the University of Iowa and Antioch College in Yellow Springs Ohio.....but was unable to go.

I once applied for a full ride scholarships with room and board. They had 3 scholarships that year for "activists" and I applied and was hopeful. And went for in person interview. I really liked Yellow Springs Ohio and the 1000 acres Forest Preserve literally across the street from the campus. And the Bird or Raptor Rehabilitation center I stumbled on. They t

old me that they had selected the first two already. And they had someone they really liked already for the 3rd spot. And that it was down to me and another person. And when I came in 4th in a top 3 winners race I never got to college....and paid the price Economically and otherwise...I was that close to a full 4 year ride to Antioch College in Yellow Springs Ohio back in the 1980s ....what a different and easier life I imagine that might have led to.....

But I always thought that college professors were supposed to not be blacklisted too !!!

The Solomon Amendment blacklisted men (only men) if they believed in nonviolence and refused to register for selective service.

The Solomon Amendment blacklisted anti war male dissidents from getting student grants and loans to prevent them from being able to go to college.

Every student should have the right to a free college or trade school education! You know, like in most of the rest of the western world. Some day this idiotic country needs to understand their number one resource are the children and we need to invest in them.

Who would want to attend a college that fires knowledge because the dictator called for it?

Absolutely! The universities are torching any last scrap of legitimacy as they turn into compliance factories.

We need people of Mr Fish’s calibre ever more urgently these days.

Btw this happened to Steve Bell,

in 2023, he was “stood down” by The Guardian following controversy over a cartoon about Gaza, ending his 42-year tenure at the paper

https://www.belltoons.co.uk/

The Guardian has been poor like most MSM on Gaza.

Thanks for the heads up, just subscribed to Mr. Fish’s excellent Substack.

Thanks for mentioning Steve Bell. The Guardian disgraced themselves in the way they treated him and betrayed journalistic standards. It wasn't exactly the same and I didn't pay the same level of consequence, but I had a similar end of my political cartooning career: https://demockracy.ink/the-power-of-the-political-cartoon/

Fantastic post Mark. Enlightening, reminding, invigorating … we all must act or we mirror the 1930’s. Universities have shown little courage and are complicit in our fall into fascism. If one of the key pillars of our culture cannot stand strong then we are in danger of the others crumbling and falling. We all must do something… anything… we can sit and watch no longer. The gross rapist, liar, thief, racist, glutton is creating chaos and the feelings of overwhelm … of hopelessness. This is what the evil beast residing in the Orange Turd wants. We need to end all of this now before it is too late.

Thank you. My life would have been very different and better and easier I'm sure..

In the USA less than one third ....less than 1/3rd of all adults over age 25 have college degrees.

I have come to believe a large reason for poverty in the USA is that millions of college educated people ...especially college educated white people ....have government jobs with extremely high Wages and Luzory Benefits.....with what should be universal benefits....only for government workers and selected few

In the riduloous and insulting way one or both of the Monopoly Parties passed the Juneteenth Holiday for instance white people with government jobs who make a $1000 a day get paid a $1000 a day not to work while millions of Americans without college degrees or government jobs living and dieing in the "private sector" get zero paid Holidays or sick days or vacation days.....

But I've gone on .....but I agree.....we could just send everyone who wanted to go to college to college......maybe cap all university jobs at maximum $50,000 or even $100,000 a year maximum......and all those university presidents and football and basketball coaches who did not like it could start their own businesses or take a job in the "private sector".
