It is so obscene -- and those in government go on saying they are 'heart-broken' -- 'if only Hamas would surrender it could all stop...' -- I wonder what, if anything, it will take to make these people see that THEY are the ones doing this? The disociative thinking is so extreme -- if a private individual talked like this they would be commited for psychiatric care, but governments just butcher language to mask (they imagine) the butchering of children. And they are doing it on our names with our taxation :( We are living in evil times.
Yes we are, Jan. There is an indigenous concept that is known among Native American indigenous as Wetiko. Paul Levy has written a couple excellent books on it. Wetiko is viewed as a kind of contagious 'mind virus' that begins with consumption then morphs into over consumption to, finally, cannibalism, in which the very resources that nurture life are consumed and despoiled. It is the best explanation for this collapsing late stage-capitalist culture we are trapped in. Every dead child in Gaza is an act of spiritual cannibalism.
Our "leaders" will never change, the system will never change because they are sick with Wetiko. The political process is a Wetiko ceremony where only cannibals will triumph. It's impossible to vote your way out of such a death spiral by voting for the lesser-of-two evils. Our only hope is action with things like the labor movement and general strikes, targeted boycotts, community organizing and mutual aid etc. Unfortunately, where I live there is none of that, only calls from the local Democratic party for people to volunteer ... and further Wetiko.
That's such an insightful concept -- I'll look up the books and also pass on my daughter who works for an anti-capitalist resistance organisation and son who is very active in boycotting. I live in France where the labour movement still has some teeth but even here it's increasingly dismissed and the scapegoating of anyone from Muslim backgrounds is rife.

One of our senator, Tammy Baldwin (WI-D) is a loyal Biden fascist and her third biggest funder is the JStreet Zionist PAC.
