Well, hey, the White House Correspondents Dinner was fun, though. That's the US - politicians and comedians and journalists laughing in the face of murder. Adorned with movie stars and B-list celebrities. I would say shame on them all, but I think shame was declared illegal, unless used as a political weapon. Because none of the attendees are capable of feeling shame. Just there to jeer and caper.

As a one-time print journalist, I have always been disgusted by that annual exposure of what the corporate media is really about. But this year, given all the journalists (and often their families) brutally killed and injured by US/Israeli crimes in Gaza, it was beyond basic human decency. As with so many ugly American truths these days: another 'mask-off' moment revealing the empire for the monster it is.

I couldn't believe Jon Hamm was there - I was just about to watch him in The Report, a movie about CIA torture. I was holding off due to emotional and mental exhaustion over the Israeli genocide . . .
