Amy Goodman played a solid 15 minutes of South African arguments on NPR this afternoon. Powerful, implacable, passionately determined South African voices. Their case in applying the genocide convention is air-tight. Clarence Darrow couldn't beat this rap.

Lol, it's nice to be able to say something nice about Democracy Now! again. Goodman's been staunchly pro-Palestinian and anti-imperialist since 10/7.

Yes, Democracy Now! has been good on the genocide. Did you mean DN!, instead of NPR?

You are right. I associate college radio stations with NPR, but this one doesn't play NPR News. They all used to; not anymore.

I need to stop making that association.

NPR has become such a corporatized, neutered institution. It is so sad. For awhile I was writing letters in response to specific stories -- dozens over a period of months and never got a reply or saw any evidence I was having any impact. There is still the occasional good story but most of it is woke and irrelevant. I've switched to the BBC, but they have their own problems.

I listened/watched the whole of the South African arguments. Powerful stuff! I don't think Israel has a snowball's chance in hell of blowing it out of the water. I'm looking forward to S.A. charging the US as an accessory to the war crime of genocide next.

I hope you are right, but despite the strong case and solid facts, Norman Finkelstein is not too hopeful they will make the right decision.

Either way, the cat's out of the bag, as it were. Things will never be the same. Israel's reputation will be forever tarnished and the US branded as a genocide enabler. The Global South was brave and acted together to hold their Western colonizers accountable. Their courage will continue to grow. More actions will come.

I think you are right. The images out of Gaza have torched all our red-white-n-blue bunting.
