The TFP was sued out of existence about 9 years ago by The Blade (the oldest newspaper in town, but now owned by two a-hole Trumpster brothers from Pittsburgh), but people still missed the alternative paper. We're now going to be "multi-media" (film and podcasts too) online only, and we're set up as a non-profit so we can apply for grants, etc. So, see if anyone in your area wants to start or re-start an alternative paper. I have never lived in a more politically silent area. I've been here 4 years and had one good political discussion. It's mostly tourist and retired wealthy boomers. NOBODY talks about the genocide. I've tried numerous things, volunteered for various groups and my input is shunned. I am a political orphan up here.
I tried working with a third-party up here but all they wanted to do was meet on Zoom. I tried getting folks to meet up with me at some labor and pro-Palestine events in the area. I'd get a couple lukewarm agreements to and then be there all by myself. Honestly, the pandemic Zoom shit has broken peoples' ability to meet and relate in person.
