When it comes to determining what is needed to bring needed safety improvements for the rail workers we all depend upon, the voices of the rail workers are the only ones that count.
I haven’t forgotten about this. I was praying for a strike. Ever since Covid, I’ve maintained that a general strike would bring the economy to a halt, and that is the only thing that would get the attention of these politicians. Still hoping it would happen.
Agreed 100%. It is amazing how Democrats and the left completely ignore what Biden and his congressional cronies did to betray the rail workers ... shows their true colors and Wall Street connections. We need strikes, wildcat strikes, general strikes, targeted boycotts (beginning with companies that support Israel and the military/industrial complex) and resistance and noncompliance on all levels. We need a leftist movement like that of the 1930s because that is the reality of the world so many struggle in.
Thank you, Mark. I subscribe to RWU Newsletter - they actually care about the workers. Another preventable tragedy, another man lost to profit. RIP, Brent.
I live in Ohio. Every time I hear a train go by, which is several times a day, I think of East Palestine. I also can't help but think nothing will be done until a toxic train derails in a wealthy area. Then we'll hear all about "How could this POSSIBLY happen? Something must be done!"
I used to live directly east about 5 miles from the tracks along the Mississippi River carrying the oil from the fracking fields and had the same worry.
This is a sad commentary on the evils of capitalism.
I have serious doubts that the Dems ever were the "worker's party." They always have put their corporate donor's wishes far above any workers' needs. Their corporate donors are capitalists who never want to "waste money" on things such as employee safety, let alone the public's safety as in the case of the derailment and chemical burn in East Palestine, Ohio. Don't blame the victims--but don't give their abusers a pass, either.
For a brief time under FDR they did some good but ever since Taft-Hartley it's been downhill. Big money, not "will of the people" has always run Washington and now rules the place. Now, of course, it is foreign money and money representing the rule and cruel whims of another country that rules with an iron fist of fascistic demand.
It really is. The @#%$! corporations have been cutting back on staff and maintenance for years. Engineers are on standby and get little vacation and sick days.
Yes, and supporting each other and others strikes. A few general strikes bringing the whole machine to a grinding halt could do more to restore some justice and balance to our perverted economic system than all the prattling, disingenuous politicians combined.

"Don't Blame the Victims."

Thanks for letting us know about this, Mark. Rail workers definitely need safety improvements. So sad about this man losing his life.
