As a former journalist who ran into a fair amount of corporate censorship of stories and political cartoon work and got booted from the editorial staff of the paper I once worked for, I found British investigative journalist John Pilger’s documentary The War You Don’t See (2010), on government and corporate media war propaganda to be a brutally honest report of how we are repeatedly lied into war crimes, and now genocide in Gaza.
Instead of a light of truth, the corporate media becomes the salesman of disaster and death … and huge corporate profit for the bloody weapons industry.
Anyone with an ounce of sense and the kind of skepticism needed to protect one’s sanity from the incessant lies of this government, will find Pilger’s tracking of war propaganda from WW I to the Cheney/Bush wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and on into Obama’s many betrayals useful.
Swaddled in lies
The US/Israeli genocide is swaddled in lies, cynical deception, fear mongering, racism and relentless propaganda in the dank tradition of the con job Pres. Woodrow Wilson pioneered to turn the country from anti-war to war-crazed in a matter of months … when the bankers needed American boots in the mud of France.
The Gaza genocide is a huge tipping point. There will be a wider war — and perhaps more than one. Expect a terror attack — genuine or manufactured — to panic people into war frenzy and gullibility. The faked assault in the Gulf of Tonkin was how they hooked us into the Vietnam debacle. Twenty years ago, it was the Weapons of Mass Destruction lie that led to Iraq. Both were unmitigated disasters and human rights travesties, and in both cases, the media were the first to snap to and fall into line.
Be awake. Be aware. Be ready for their BS
This movie will open your eyes and help keep you from getting sucked in to what is certainly on the way. Young people of draft age especially should watch this. If you have a teenage son or daughter, nephew or niece, watch this movie with them and talk about the lessons Pilger is laying out. If you can’t meet with them, send them this post. Young people need to understand this film.
Be ready for what is on the way.
