Blocking The Ballot Box

With the rising fascist tide, expect to see a reduction on citizen access to voting

Whether it’s the kind of statewide gerrymandering we see in Wisconsin, where the party that has the minority of statewide votes dominates the legislature, or blocking minority voting access or moving aggressively to overthrow the result of the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court race, Republicans have made blocking citizens from their ballot box a top priority and petty, brutish artform. The purge of voters is happening across the nation and can be expressed in such dangerous ways as preventing distribution of drinking water to voters stranded in hours-long voting lines due to the shutdown of neighborhood polling sites.

Expect to see open intimidation of voters in many areas in 2024, whether that is truckloads of armed militia thugs parked across the street from polling sites to active threats to individual voters and an acceleration of the kind of open threats and intimidation of local voting officials that has led many to resign their positions.

All fascist regimes look to hammer down and bend elections to their needs and goals. As the fascist purge of our government accelerates we will see such lawlessness accelerate.
