BBC 'HARDtalk' Interviewer Stephen Sacker Shows How Real News Interviews Should Be Done
Completely unlike the Wiffle Ball interviews of the American corporate media Sacker shows how to play hard ball.
The BBC HARDtalk thrice-weekly radio show offers some fascinating interviews. Host Stephen Sacker does an amazing job. He is always well grounded in the topic and guest of each 23-minute broadcast and, as the show’s name suggests, these are not the kind of namby-pamby foam ball 2-minute interviews Americans are insulted with by our mainstream corporate media.
At about the midpoint of most interviews, Sacker turns up the heat, posing tough, specific questions or challenging a guest’s past statements or zeroing in on weaknesses in his guest’s logic or background. If all you’ve been listening to is the predictable mush of American corporate media, you’ll be shocked at how interviews can – and should – be done.
In a recent interview with Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, Sacker pinned the notoriously oily Trump toady down on a number of issues. You can link to the interview here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct4p7x
